Prog Club Presentation

Well, the new North Metro Team made a successful debut on Saturday night. As usual, the Colorado Art Rock Society (CARS) folks were very accepting, supportive, and forgiving as audients. Kudos to Mark K, for taking up the mantle of learning some difficult repertoire in less than a month. It probably did not help matters when I told him that half the members of CARS are expert musicians. There was a minimum of thrashing on Mark's part after we threw him into the deep end of the pool!

Kevin gave a brief overview of Guitar Craft, explained the GC tuning, and adroitly fielded a handful of questions in between songs of our mini-performance. The set-list:

One of a Thousand Regrets
Group Loop in A minor
Sleep Dirt
Circulation in A minor
Blockhead

I thought the group loop went pretty well, the circulation was a dud. Afterward we chatted and answered more questions individually and enjoyed some brews. We also received invitations for three future gigs! Here are a few pics, courtesy the ever-available and gracious Steve Navarre:

Venue: Breckenridge Brewery.
Audience: Really, really nice people.

Giglet at CARS April meeting

Bit of a last-minute post here, but a newly fledged GCCO-North team (Dave Cialone, Mark Kodak, and Kevin Wilmeth) will be playing a short set at the April meeting of the Colorado Art Rock Society (CARS), at Breckenridge Brewery in LoDo, and fielding questions about Guitar Craft and other items of guitar-circle geekitude. This is the first performance from GCCO-North since Nathan's departure, and we're excited to have Mark playing with us!

The meeting is Saturday night, April 26th, starting at about 6.00pm, and GCCO is expecting to go on at about 7.30, for probably "leetle-less-san 'alf an hour". Hopefully we'll have good things to report back on afterwards!

GCCO CD: Held Together With Holes

The post may be a little late for what any of us may have wanted, but here we go: GCCO actually has a CD now! At long last, we can answer the perennial question, "just what kind of music do you guys play again?" with, "here, we sound like this." Booyah!

The disc documents some of the work that GCCO managed during the period 2006-2007, with a couple of live performances from 2004 (graciously captured by others) thrown in for good measure. With Nathan's move to the Chicago area imminent, we wanted to capture some of the original material we'd worked on, as well as a few other things we had available to us at session time. So, with the invaluable help of our friends Andy and Chris, we convened for a session and laid down ten tracks, including three circulations, three originals, an original arrangement, and two Guitar Craft standards. Later, Dave and Kevin recorded three more tunes, restored the live tracks from their respective raw sources, and happily accepted Andy's restoration of a fourth live track from the Rock N Soul Cafe in 2006. We then found an online disc-duplication service at Mixonic, and soon had a supply of CDs in-hand and ready to go.

It is definitely a first effort--we learned a tremendous amount during the process--but we're pretty happy with it as such. In general it's a good representation of what you might hear GCCO play at one of those strange places that accepts such hooligans.

We're not exactly set up for merchandising, but if you're interested in getting your hands on a copy, please feel free to contact Kevin directly, at kwilmeth AT us DOT ibm DOT com.
