September 5 Gig w/Crowboy

Hey there! Guitar Circle Colorado will be appearing at The Exchange Tavern in Westminster on Friday, September 5. Our very good friends from Crowboy will also be there. The Colorado Circle walks on at 8:30 pm. We are planning an hour-long set and hope to debut some new pieces (well, new for us anyways!). Crowboy takes the stage after us.

Hope to see you there!

Benefit Concert Report

Our May 9 gig on behalf of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society was a big hit. The main act of The Gristle Girls/Pindral "Unplugged" did a great job and we really enjoyed listening to them. We made a bunch of mistakes, learned a lot, but mostly enjoyed ourselves immensely. In a marked change from the past we used a number of effects for which we received some positive feedback. For example I used a Line 6 DL-4 to loop the twinkles on Asturias, which then allowed us to circulate over the top and add other ambient accents. Kevin also debuted the mandolin within the circle context, using it on 28 Bars, Norwegian Wood, and Asturias. Very nice!

Big thanks to April and Jonathan for hosting this wonderful event. Our good friend Steve N posted a few pics here.

Prog Club Presentation

Well, the new North Metro Team made a successful debut on Saturday night. As usual, the Colorado Art Rock Society (CARS) folks were very accepting, supportive, and forgiving as audients. Kudos to Mark K, for taking up the mantle of learning some difficult repertoire in less than a month. It probably did not help matters when I told him that half the members of CARS are expert musicians. There was a minimum of thrashing on Mark's part after we threw him into the deep end of the pool!

Kevin gave a brief overview of Guitar Craft, explained the GC tuning, and adroitly fielded a handful of questions in between songs of our mini-performance. The set-list:

One of a Thousand Regrets
Group Loop in A minor
Sleep Dirt
Circulation in A minor
Blockhead

I thought the group loop went pretty well, the circulation was a dud. Afterward we chatted and answered more questions individually and enjoyed some brews. We also received invitations for three future gigs! Here are a few pics, courtesy the ever-available and gracious Steve Navarre:

Venue: Breckenridge Brewery.
Audience: Really, really nice people.

Steve has a bunch more photos of us posted here.

Giglet at CARS April meeting

Bit of a last-minute post here, but a newly fledged GCCO-North team (Dave Cialone, Mark Kodak, and Kevin Wilmeth) will be playing a short set at the April meeting of the Colorado Art Rock Society (CARS), at Breckenridge Brewery in LoDo, and fielding questions about Guitar Craft and other items of guitar-circle geekitude. This is the first performance from GCCO-North since Nathan's departure, and we're excited to have Mark playing with us!

The meeting is Saturday night, April 26th, starting at about 6.00pm, and GCCO is expecting to go on at about 7.30, for probably "leetle-less-san 'alf an hour". Hopefully we'll have good things to report back on afterwards!
